Linn Street, Iowa City About Into the Woods, JR. - Into the Woods, JR. features all of your favorite characters — Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the Witch — in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables. The musical centers on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse, and wind up changed forever.
Audition Signup & Form Auditions are open to students in grades 6-10 in the 2025-2026 school year. Please sign up for an audition slot here and fill out an audition form here. Rehearsals Rehearsals will be held at Iowa Conservatory (ICON) October 8-November 15 during the following timeblocks: Wednesday 6:30-8:30 pm Thursday 6:30-8:30 pm Saturday 12:30-3:30 pm ***Cast members will not be called for every rehearsal.*** Tech Week & Performances Tech Week will be November 16-20 at The James Theater (rehearsals may run longer than 8:30pm these days). Performances will be November 21-23 (with a possibility of a performance on November 20) at The James Theater. This is a theater education program with an education/production fee of $250.
