Auditions are closed to parent/guardian viewing.

We’re so excited to begin this magical season and invite YOU to audition for the 2026 Nolte Nutcracker. Nolte Nutcracker is open to area dancers (1st-12th grades). Below you’ll find everything you need: audition times, training requirements, rehearsal dates, fees, and policies.
AUDITION DETAILS
Date: Wednesday, August 19
Location: Nolte Academy, 1619 2nd Street, Coralville, IA 52241

Audition Schedule:
10:00-11:00am – 1st Grade Combo, 2nd Grade Combo, Ballet Levels 1 & 2
11:00am-12:00pm – Ballet Levels 3 & 4, Affect 1–2
1:00-2:15pm – Ballet Ages 13+, Affect 3-6, Pre-Pro 1 & 2
2:30-4:00pm - Pre-Pro 2/3, 3 & 4

Audition Attire
Option A: Leotard (preferably open-back), pink or skin-tone tights, ballet shoes
Option B: Fitted T-shirt/tank top, black tights or biker shorts, ballet shoes 
PP 2/3, 3 & 4: Please wear your pointe shoes for the 2:30-4:00pm audition time slot.
Dancers are welcome to wear a skirt for the pointe section of their audition.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS & ROLE ELIGIBILITY
Cast Members must be enrolled in these classes prior to audition or they will only be considered for a role that matches their number of weekly ballet technique classes. The number of technique classes required supports the skills/technique and ballet knowledge required of each role. The possible roles listed are from the previous year. With new choreography for this year, roles may be different than those listed below.

AUDITION FORMAT
30 minute warm up, then learn and perform short Nutcracker movement phrases..
 
No material needs to be prepared.
Unable to attend auditions? Complete the audition form and email us at [email protected]. If time allows, an alternate audition may be accommodated. 

Dancers participating in our Nutcracker Camp (July 27th-31st) do not need to audition. 

Simply fill out the audition form and we will assess your dancer based on their work at camp.

Baby Mouse, Angel: $165
Party Child, Polichinelle, Big Mouse, Soldier: $225
Divertissements: $330

 ATTENDANCE POLICY
Max 2 absences per role
 (including illness)

100% attendance is expected and encouraged, however, we understand exceptions do arise.

No absences allowed during mandatory dates
