Formerly the Iowa City Girls Choir since 1974, Iowa City Youth Choir is an educational, auditioned choral program open to all genders! Our group includes 4th-8th grade students with treble/unchanged voices. Choirs attend weekly practices and perform repertoire from a wide variety of vocal styles and traditions.
There are two choirs based on experience, skill, and age:
• Discover Choir: Singers in this choir discover the joy of participating in a choral community. They will develop choral skills such as reading octavos, ensemble singing, and healthy and expressive vocal practices.
• Aspire Choir: Singers in this choir aspire to share the joy of choral music with each other and their community. They will develop choral skills such as independence in reading musical scores, part-singing, and vocal technique.
