Primary/BEGINNER BALLET
  • Ballet A & B (ages 6 and 7) are designed to condition the body while emphasizing musicality, dynamic rhythm, placement, teamwork and focus. Students will learn proper classroom etiquette, spatial awareness and correct alignment. Barre work is not introduced at this age/level. No auditions are required for Ballet A & B.
  • Ballet 1 is for ages 8 and older. Coursework builds on basic concepts and vocabulary learned in A & B, while new basic vocabulary and theories are introduced. Barre work is introduced when students execute movements properly with correct alignment and placement. Exercises are practiced face to the barre until students are strong enough to maintain posture and turnout.
  • Ballet 2 is for ages 9 and older. Placement by audition only. Students should have a working knowledge of the basic vocabulary and theory of the previous levels. Maximum turnout and correct posture should be maintained throughout the barre work. Most of the barre work should be performed with one hand to the barre. Girls will begin preparation for pointe work. Students attend at least two ballet lessons/week.

INTERMEDIATE BallET
  • Ballet 3 is for ages 10 and older. Placement by audition only. Students should have a working knowledge of the basic vocabulary and theory of the previous levels. Maximum turnout and correct posture should be maintained throughout the barre. Most of the barre work should be performed sideways to the barre. Pointe work is introduced in Ballet 3. Pointe work is not recommended for students who are under age 11. Simple repetition face to the barre for the first year builds strength and stability. Students attend three or more ballet lessons/week.
  • Ballet 4 is for ages 11 and older. Placement by audition only. Students should have a working knowledge of the basic vocabulary and theory of the previous levels. Maximum turnout and correct posture should be maintained. Epaulment and head and arm coordination should be strengthened. Pointe work will be executed sideways to the barre and in center when the student’s posture, legs and feet are strong.  Students attend four or more ballet lessons/week.
intermediate/advanced ballet
  • Ballet 5 is for ages 12 and older. Placement by audition only. All the theory of the previous levels, with the addition of the knowledge and understanding of the entire summary of theory. Maximum turnout and correct posture should be maintained. Epaulment and head and arm coordination should be strengthened. Simple arm coordination is required at this level. Balances in various positions should be performed at the end of barre work. Pointe studies continue with gradual introduction while students strengthen back, legs and feet. Recommended: Students attend four or more ballet lessons/week

Advanced/Pre-Pro ballet
  • Ballet 6 is for ages 14 and older. Placement by audition only. All of the vocabulary of the previous levels are incorporated. Female students should wear pointe shoes for the center twice a week and male students should have a special men’s class twice a week. Maximum turnout and correct posture should be maintained throughout the work. Epaulment and head and arm coordination should be strengthened. More complex arm coordination is required and balances in various positions should be shown at the end of barre work. Students attend five or more ballet lessons/week.
