NOLTE NEWS :: JANUARY UPDATE
Happy New Year, Nolte families! We hope your year is off to a great start! We have lots of studio news to share...
Our class enrollment remains open! And, because our class sizes are small and studio policies have remained effective with zero occurrence of community spread for Covid-19, we are now allowing siblings to join one parent or guardian in our lobby for families enrolled in Creative Movement, Children's Dance and Kinder Combo. Our recital plans are shaping and we hope to have information to share with you by the end of the month. Those enrolled before the end of January will still be eligible to participate in our end-of-year recital. More information about open classes can be found on our website.
Streaming Class Reminder
All Nolte classes levels 1st Grade Combo and above may be attended via Zoom. If your child is enrolled in in-person Children's Dance 1, Children's Dance 2 or KinderCombo, and you want them to attend virtually, please find an alternate virtual-only class on this schedule. (In-person classes for these levels are not offered with a virtual option.)

Performing Arts Preschool News
After much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision that Performing Arts Preschool will not reopen for the 2021-22 school year. We are developing a program for preschool age children in a different format. Launching in September, we will begin a weekday program for children ages 3-5. Scheduling details are being considered, but this is being envisioned as a morning program that could be 2.5-3 hours in length. Staffed by experienced Nolte Academy and Performing Arts Preschool faculty, the program will feature movement, music, art, socialization, play and learning opportunities. This will be different than a traditional preschool, but still a wonderful opportunity for children to be exposed to new experiences and peers. We will be releasing information about registering for this program in early May.
2020 in Review
The year started just like many before it, so unassuming. In March, Nolte Academy’s staff and families pivoted to a new normal. Classes went virtual, recital became a worldwide broadcast event. We welcomed virtual dance instruction from some of the world’s most talented working professionals. Open Doors Dance Festival moved forward in a different way. Classes resumed in the fall with increased safety protocols, smaller sizes, virtual options. Our preschool paused in-person option, offering a virtual learning time instead. Iowa Conservatory opened for extended fine arts education opportunities, and we introduced visual arts classes at NA. Nutcracker was reenvisioned as a film. We couldn’t have imagined it, but we made it through, one day at a time. And with the incredible support of our families and creative staff. Take a look at our slideshow of the year here!
Did you miss "attending" our virtual Nutcracker this year? No problem! You can still purchase a link to the downloadable show here! The link to the show will be emailed before the end of the month. For those who ordered programs and posters, they will be available for pick up at the studio this week -- please watch your email for when they will arrive.
United Way Holiday Gift
Many thanks for your generosity in supporting the refugee family in need through The United Way of Johnson & Washington Counties. Items were delivered to the family before the holidays and we received this thank you extended through our Neighborhood Centers of Johnson County contact, Aaron Wanguwabo: "Once more again I would like to thank you so much for everything you did to the family. Mom just called and said I pass her sincere gratitude to all of you for all the gifts they received. This is their very first time in life they get many gifts like these! ... They all said thank you so so, so, so... much and God bless you all!"
