 Registration for program placement in Trimester 2 of our immersive arts-based education program -- Iowa Conservatory (ICon) is now open! We have limited spots for new students in each of our cohort groups that learn together in a safer, smaller class-size environment. If you are currently enrolled in Trimester 1 of ICon, you need not re-enroll. ICon is for all levels of students interested in arts education. Registration is open until 5 pm on Saturday, November 14. Please fill out this form to designate your interest in ICon. This form does not guarantee a spot in the program.

ICon Calendar ICon is offered by trimesters to align with the ICCSD education options. Trimester 2 will run from November 30-March 5. Trimester 3 begins March 8.  New this year, our resident art instructor, Kyle Powell, is teaching weekly in-person AND virtual visual art classes for ages 5-adult! Our in-person classes are safely distanced and students and instructor are masked at all times. Come explore with us! Drawing Fundamentals: Mondays 6:30-8 pm (In-Person, Ages 10+) Drawing is a gateway to expression and a way to teach ourselves to see. In this class we will learn different drawing techniques and focus on observational drawing from still life, to landscape, to figure drawing. Art Exploration: Wednesdays 5-6 pm (In-Person, Ages 8+) Think clay, wood, paper, found objects, wire, ice and more … For those of you interested in building and sculpting, this class will introduce creative ways to take your artwork to another dimension with 3-D art. Drawing: Thursdays 5-6 pm (Virtual, Ages 5-10) In this class, we will start each drawing with simplified larger shapes. We will then work step by step to refine and add details and color. We will also emphasize patterns, composition, and your unique style and expression. Each class will have its own subject and drawing, so you can join any session. Adult Meditative Drawing: Thursdays 7:30-8:30 pm (Virtual, Teens & Adults) These meditative sessions focus on drawings that emphasize a thoughtful and playful process using shape, line and color and more.
